Longtime K-drama fans would not be surprised to find that Choi Won-young has been in some of the most well-loved shows, including this year’s Under the Queen’s Umbrella and 2018-19’s SKY Castle. This hardworking actor has not shied away from big or small roles since he first debuted in the film Sex Is Zero in 2002.

Between his first film to his latest in 2022’s Yaksha: Ruthless Operations, he’s appeared in more than ten films including Cheaters (2007), The Outlaw (2010), Confession of Murder (2012), Your Time Is Up (2013), Looking for My Family (2015), and Jesters: The Game Changers (2019) among others.
His first drama appearance was in Drama City: She’s Smiling in 2006. He followed this up by at least one drama every year and as many as four dramas in some years. His more notable dramas include While You Were Sleeping (2011), Three Days (2014), Hello Monster (2015), Come Back Mister (2016), and Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016-17).
2020 was another busy year for him, having starred in Mystic Pop-up Bar, Alice, and My Dangerous Wife.
This busy actor has not let his work get in the way of his education. He has a degree in Stage Design from Sangmyung University and a Master’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations from Hongik University. (Pay attention to his insightful answers in the video below.)
Arguably, his most memorable role might have been 2013 when he met the actress who played his on-screen wife, Shim Yi-young, in A Hundred Year Legacy and turned her into his real-life wife a year later. The couple have two children together.
