The drama would bring together the 2017 Baeksang television acting category winners for the first time.
Two of South Korea's top Hallyu stars, Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin, have been offered the lead roles in an upcoming Netflix romance drama — potentially the first project together of the two SOOP Management actors.
Based on a novel, the drama Trunk is an adaptation of a novel about a "fixed-term" marriage service agency called NM. SOOP Management confirmed that the two stars are positively reviewing the offers, according to a report from Naver. The two actors recently met with the production team to discuss the offer, according to TV Daily. Seo Hyun-jin, who we last saw as a frosty defense lawyer in the legal drama Why Her? (2022), could take on the role of Noh-ji, an NM deputy general manager who, despite the nature of her job, is actually against marriage. Gong Yoo — increasingly a Netflix favorite after The Silent Sea (2021) and Squid Game (2021) — is being courted for the role of a music producer who believes that all marriages are deceitful.
The script is written by Park Eun-young, who wrote the historical drama Hwarang (2016), and the drama will be directed by Kim Kyu-tae, who gave us Our Blues (2022) and It's Okay, That's Love (2014).
