He might have been born in 1985, but most people associate this talented actor with another year from that decade. Playing Ryu Dong-ryong in the hit tvN series Reply 1988 made Lee Dong-hwi a household name in South Korea and earned him several nominations in 2016, including one for Best New Actor (TV) at the 52nd Baeksang Art Awards. The show’s distribution on Netflix has given the series, and Lee, a newfound fan base as well worldwide.

Stints in movies such as The Beauty Inside, Confidential Assignment, and New Trial eventually led to his starring role as Young-ho in the blockbuster film Extreme Job. Outside of acting, Lee has shown a talent for music, as part of a project group called MSG Wannabe that was put together through the MBC show Hangout with Yoo. He is part of a sub-unit with also includes singers Kim Jung-min, Simon D, and fellow actor Lee Sang-yi.
In 2021, Lee has mentioned prioritizing his health. As a direct result, he has not taken on too many projects. Luckily since 2022, his projects have never stopped coming.
