"Fortune favors the bold" is a phrase that aptly describes Park Jin-young’s rise to fame. As a child, he had always dreamt of being an entertainer—which led him to boldly defy his parents' wishes in his elementary years. His mother, in turn, gave him an ultimatum—pass the audition at a big entertainment company or forever stop pursuing his dream to become an entertainer. Sadly for his mother (but luckily for us), Jinyoung passed his auditions with flying colors. The following years would see him train in dancing and singing, with the ultimate goal of debuting in a boyband. It would be another three or four years before he would debut as an idol as part of the boyband GOT7.

However, in between dancing and singing classes during his trainee years, Jinyoung was allowed to act—and he took it. After months of intensive acting workshops, Jinyoung was cast in his debut role in the hit teen k-drama Dream High 2 (2012). Jinyoung would continue to take on acting projects both in film and television while promoting his k-pop group, GOT7. He would go on to act supporting roles in several movies and series, which include This Is My Love (2015), The Legend of the Blue Sea (2016), and A Stray Goat (2017).
Jinyoung would finally land his first lead role in 2019 as a young psychic solving the mystery of his parents’ deaths in the supernatural mystery k-drama, He Is Psychometric. Recently, he played the role of an Associate Judge in the dystopian drama The Devil Judge (2021) alongside his acting senior, Ji Sung.
Park Jin-young also appeared in both seasons of the cell-based k-drama Yumi’s Cells (2021-2022) and the 2022 film thrillers Yaksha: Ruthless Operations and A Christmas Carol. He will star in the upcoming mystery romance series The Witch.
